(VOVWORLD) - Party General Secretary and President Nguyen Phu Trong has underscored the role of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, which he said has promoted patriotism and the great strength of the great national unity bloc and contributed to the victorious Vietnamese revolutions.

Mr. Trong delivered a speech at a ceremony in Hanoi on Wednesday to mark the 90th anniversary of the Vietnam United National Front, now the Vietnam Fatherland Front.
Party General Secretary and President Nguyen Phu Trong said, “In the renewal process, the Vietnam Fatherland Front has worked with the Party and State to simultaneously carry out the two strategic tasks of national construction and defense, solve difficulties in people’s lives, create favorable conditions for people of all social strata to develop socio-economy, build the Party and political system, ensure national defense and security, foster patriotism for development, promote the will power and strength of Vietnamese culture and people. The Vietnam Fatherland Front has closely coordinated with other organizations in the political system to disseminate information, mobilize, gather people from all walks of life, create unity and consensus in society, give recommendations to the Party and the State, and contribute to law building and policy making.”
The Party chief and President urged the Vietnam Fatherland Front to continue to build and strengthen the solidarity bloc, widely gather people, ensure a higher consensus in thought and action, consistently pursue the goal of national independence and socialism, and build a more prosperous and civilized country with people enjoying an affluent and happy life.
He said, “The Vietnam Fatherland Front needs to deeply grasp the guiding viewpoint: revolution is a cause of the people, by the people, for the people, and it is the people who make great historical victories. President Ho Chi Minh taught us, "National unity is not only the top goal and mission of the Party, but also the top goal and mission of the whole nation. National solidarity is the strategic policy, has vital significance, determines the success or failure of a revolution, and is a lodestar for the revolutionary strategy of the Communist Party of Vietnam.”
Party General Secretary and President Nguyen Phu Trong emphasized that the Front should continue mobilize the people to actively participate in building the Party and administration, combat "peaceful evolution" schemes and activities of hostile forces and resolutely fight against wrong, reactionary views and political opportunists who want to divide and destroy the great unity bloc of the whole nation.
