(VOVworld) - Saudi Arabia has been struggling with the spread of Mers. The Health Ministry has confirmed 58 new cases of MERS, including 15 health workers, since early this month, the highest rise in recorded infections since February.

The Health Ministry reported two deaths on Friday, bringing the total death toll to 485 since 2012. The local media report that new cases are mostly in Riyadh, particularly at King Abdulaziz hospital. The Mers epidemic has raised concerns over the safety of more than 2 million people paying pilgrimage to Mecca in September.
Since the first case of Mers in June, 2012, Saudi Arabia has confirmed 1,100 infected cases and the disease has been reported in 23 countries.
