(VOVworld)- Deputy Prime Minister Vu Van Ninh has stressed the need to increase the number of communes meeting the criteria of the new rural development program to 50% in the next five years.

Speaking at a meeting to review the implementation of the new rural development program and tasks for the rest of the year Ninh, who is also Head of the Steering Committee for the National Target Program on New Rural Development asked the Committee to exert more efforts to develop new measures to fulfill the tasks for this year and strengthen implementation of the program. The participants proposed more resources to accelerate the program and increase support for disadvantaged communes. They suggested honoring role models including enterprises which have contributed to the new rural development programs.
