(VOVworld) - The official death toll in the South Korean ferry sinking has risen to 58 following the detection of other 6 bodies on Sunday afternoon. South Korea’s Emergency Management Agency for the sunken Sewol ferry disaster deployed 212 ships, 36 aircrafts, and divers in the search work.

Later the same day, at a meeting chaired by Prime Minister Chung Hong-won in Jeollanam-do province, President Park Geun-hye accepted the proposal of the Emergency Response Committee on designating Jindo and Ansan districts as special disaster zones, creating legal foundations for compensations as well as support for these areas after the incident.
