During a major speech in Manchester, New Hampshire, Trump said that if he was elected President, he would suspend immigration from areas of the world where there was a proven history of terrorism against the US, Europe, or their allies until they fully understand how to end these threats. Omar Mateen, the gunman, is a full-blooded American born in New York, but his parents are Afghan immigrants. Trump criticized Clinton for supporting Syrian refugees entering the US and asked why President Obama had refused to use the term “Islamic radicalism” while describing the attack.
At a campaign speech in Cleveland, Clinton said blaming any religion and banning those who follow such religion would benefit IS and hurt a large number of Muslims, who also hate terrorism. Clinton called for greater efforts to remove Islamic State propaganda from the Internet, more air strikes, and closer cooperation with regional allies.
