(VOVWORLD) - On Wednesday the Chinese Embassy in Pakistan confirmed that five Chinese citizens and one local person were killed in a terrorist attack in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province in northwest Pakistan on Tuesday.
The Embassy said the terrorists attacked a vehicle from the Dasu hydropower project being built by a Chinese company in the Shangla region of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province.
A local police source said a bomber driving a suicide car carrying explosives crashed into a convoy of Chinese engineers working at the Dasu project. One car in the convoy caught fire and fell into a ravine.
Chinese diplomatic agencies in Pakistan condemned the terrorist attack and advised Chinese companies and citizens in Pakistan to watch their local security situation for their safety. No individual or organization has claimed responsibility for the attack.
Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif went to the Chinese Embassy to express his condolences to the families of the victims, and pledged to thoroughly investigate the incident and bring the perpetrators to trial.
