(VOV) – Party leader Nguyen Phu Trong is now in London for an official visit to the United Kingdom and Northern Ireland at the invitation of Prime Minister David Cameron.
After welcoming ceremony on Tuesday, talks were held between the two leaders. They agreed to increase overall cooperation, especially in trade, maritime navigation, finance-banking, and education, aiming to raise bilateral trade to 4 billion USD this year. After the talks, the Party leader visited the Vietnamese Embassy in the UK and witnessed the debut of the leadership of the Network for Friends of Vietnam, founded by British individuals who love Vietnam. Mr. Trong told the embassy’s staff: "I’m very happy to meet you all here and witness the debut ceremony of the Network for Friends of Vietnam who have practical contributions to the homeland. I congratulate you all on the results you have achieved over the past years".
The Party chief asked embassy staff and the Vietnamese community in the UK to make a greater contribution to fostering the strategic partnership between Vietnam and the UK.
