(VOVworld) – The Party Central Committee’s Secretariat  has hosted an annual meeting of retired high ranking officials of the southern region to inform them of recent situation at home and abroad. The meeting on Sunday in Ho Chi Minh City was chaired by Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong and Politburo member Dinh The Huynh.

Delegates expressed their belief in the leadership of the Party and said they hope the Party will be truly clean and strong. Some voiced their concerns over environmental pollution, the fight against corruption, wrongdoings, and wastefulness, public debts, the equitization of state-owned enterprises, national defense, and cyber security.

Party leader Nguyen Phu Trong thanked participants for their sincere and responsible opinions, which will help the Politburo and the Secretariat in mapping out guidelines. Mr. Trong confirmed the determination of Party, army and people in safeguarding national independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity, maintaining political stability and peace for rapid and sustainable development of Vietnam.
