(VOVworld) – A photo contest was launched Wednesday to feature Vietnam-US political, diplomatic, economic relations and the US’ culture, daily life, and landscapes. The contest is one of several activities celebrating the 20th founding anniversary of Vietnam-US diplomatic ties on July 12.

At the launch ceremony in Hanoi, Nguyen Tam Chien, Chairman of the Vietnam-US Friendship Association and former Ambassador to the US, said: “This is an important event to enhance mutual understanding and exchanges between the two peoples. Since Vietnam and US established diplomatic relations 20 years ago, the two have rapidly progressed from being former enemies to being comprehensive partners. The photo contest and exhibition will highlight efforts of the two peoples during the reconciliation and normalization process. This will help Vietnamese people better understand the US and its people.”

All Vietnamese people living at home and abroad are allowed to submit photos. Winners will be announced in early July, 2015. The 100 best photos will be selected for 2-week exhibitions in major cities in Vietnam and the US next July.
