The US considers Vietnam a promising partner in the Asia Pacific

(VOVworld) - The Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) has released a report analyzing Vietnam US relations. The report focuses on bilateral relations in politics, security, trade and investment, national defense and culture.

It acknowledged staggering improvement in all fields as US policy makers consider Vietnam a promising partner while both countries share increasing joint benefits in geographical, security and economic areas. The Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary to the Bureau of East Asian and Pacific Affairs, Scot Marciel, praises Vietnam’s role in multilateral forums to promote peace, security and stability in the region.
The report wrote that Vietnam and the US share common interests in fostering navigation freedom and trade in the East Sea while preventing the use of force in territorial disputes and ensuring peaceful means in resolution. Meanwhile, bilateral trade revenue reached 25 billion dollars last year, following 12 years of bilateral trade agreement enforcement.
The report urged both to promote early finalization of the Trans Pacific Partnership agreement, joint governmental dialogues on trade and investment, ease trade protectionism and constraints. It recommended the US recognition of Vietnam’s market economic status and carry out a comprehensive detoxification of dioxin residue in Da Nang and Bien Hoa airports.
