(VOVWORLD) -Italy’s cruise ship named Costa Serena on Friday arrived at Duong Dong wharf, Phu Quoc island, after departing from Thailand, making it the first international cruise ship to return to Vietnam’s resort island after the COVID-19 epidemic.

The 5-star ship carries 3,500 tourists from 18 countries, mostly from Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia and Europe, plus 1,056 crew members.
After visitors finished sightseeing and shopping at tourist attractions on Phu Quoc island, at 5:00 p.m. on the same day, the ship left Phu Quoc, continuing its cruise on the ocean.
Kien Giang province has geared up to recover the tourism industry severely affected by the COVID-19. It has built Phu Quoc international passenger port, promoted the application of science and technology, reformed procedures, shortened immigration procedure time for vehicles and visitors, and offered high quality, distinctive products and services.
