(VOVWORLD) -FIFA recently announced a new payment mode that transfers funds directly to female players who participate in this year's World Cup.

FIFA will pay a total of 152 million USD at this year's tournament – three times more than in France in 2019. Every player will receive at least 30,000 USD, with the amount increasing the further along their team progresses in the tournament. The players of the title-winning squad will each get 270,000 USD.
Instead of disbursing the amount through member associations, FIFA will pay the players directly. FIFPRO, the global players union, backed the effort by 150 players from 25 nations to push FIFA for more equitable terms.
World Cup 2023 will begin in New Zealand and Australia this Thursday. On Saturday, the Vietnamese women’s team will face off against the defending champions, USA. Following that match, they’ll have matches against Portugal next Thursday and the Netherlands on August 1.
