(VOVWORLD) -Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, his wife Le Thi Bich Tran and a high-ranking Vietnamese delegation arrived at Melbourne airport on Monday afternoon, starting a trip to attend the Special Summit celebrating 50 years of ASEAN-Australia relations and pay an official visit to Australia.

The guests were welcomed at Melbourne airport by Australian Ambassador to Vietnam Andrew Goledzinowski, Vietnamese Ambassador to Australia Pham Hung Tam, and other officials.
The Special Summit themed "Partnership for the future" is an opportunity for the two sides to review the past 50 years of relations and exchange measures to develop their substantive and effective relations in line with the comprehensive strategic partnership established in 2021. The Australian side is expected to propose new cooperation initiatives. If the two sides agree, there will be breakthroughs in bilateral relations.
During his official visit to Australia, Prime Minister Chinh will hold talks and meet with Australia's highest-ranking leaders, attend the Vietnam-Australia Business Forum, and visit exhibitions of investment projects in Vietnam. He will work with business associations and large Australian corporations and visit economic, social and scientific research establishments in Australia.
The Prime Minister will also meet with Embassy officials and representatives of the Vietnamese community in Australia as well as representatives of the Intellectual Association and experts from both countries.
On this occasion, the two sides will sign and exchange many cooperation documents in education, energy, minerals, agriculture-forestry-fishery, science-technology, and innovation, justice, finance, trade, and investment.
