Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh inspected flooding in Bac Giang province

The ongoing floods have caused significant loss of life and property, severely disrupting production and the livelihoods of local communities. During his visit to Yen Phong district, Bac Ninh province and Viet Yen town in Bac Giang, the Prime Minister expressed his solidarity with the affected residents and urged local authorities to immediately evacuate people to safe areas, ensuring that no one is left without food, clothing, or shelter. He also emphasized the urgent need to deliver essentials to people in isolated areas as quickly as possible.

In Bac Giang, the Prime Minister held an emergency online meeting with leaders of the other provinces affected by the floods including Bac Ninh, Bac Giang, Lao Cai, Hoa Binh, Son La, Lai Chau, Dien Bien, Ha Giang, Cao Bang, Bac Kan, Yen Bai, Tuyen Quang, Phu Tho, Thai Nguyen, and Lang Son.

Mr. Chinh called on local authorities, agencies, and sectors to closely monitor the situation and respond flexibly and effectively to emerging challenges. He stressed the importance of managing flood discharges and spillways in accordance with legal regulations, ensuring the safety of residents. He also directed authorities to assess the extent of flood damage and utilize provincial reserves to provide timely relief to affected individuals and businesses. If resources are insufficient, they are to report to the central government for additional support, Mr. Chinh said.

Prime Minister Chinh urged commercial and social policy banks to implement measures to relax taxes, fees, and charges to help flood-affected people and allocate capital to help businesses recover and stabilize operations, thus preventing disruptions to the supply chain.
