PM concludes working trip for UNGA’s 73rd session
(VOVWORLD) - Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc arrived in Hanoi on Saturday concluding his working trip to attend the High-level General Debate of the 73rd Session of the UN General Assembly.

Speaking at the event, the PM reiterated Vietnam’s consistency in upholding the UN Charter and the principles of international law on using peaceful means to address international disputes including the East Sea issue. Prime Minister Phuc called on major countries to play a leading role in maintaining peace and promoting development. He said the UN General Assembly should be the center for cooperation for peace, equality and sustainable development.
Mr. Phuc thanked 53 Asian Pacific countries for nominating Vietnam as the sole candidate to the Non-Permanent Membership of the UN Security Council in the 2020-2021 tenure.
During his trip, the Prime Minister met the President of the UN General Assembly, the UN Secretary General and held bilateral meetings with top leaders of Cuba, Bulgaria, Croatia, Fiji and Saint Lucia, during which he briefed them on Vietnam’s development achievements and its foreign policy. He talked with representatives of the major US companies and met American friends, the Vietnamese Permanent Delegation to the UN, and overseas Vietnamese in New York.
