While chairing a plenary session of the Conference on Sustainable and Climate-Resilient Development of the Mekong Delta in Can Tho city on Wednesday, Prime Minister Phuc said the event aims to work out breakthrough policies to turn challenges into opportunities and develop the region sustainably. Mr. Phuc said: “The Government is committed to creating an optimal mechanism, mobilizing the participation of people, businesses and international organizations, as well as other resources to develop the region. It is essential to take practical actions and implement tasks and proposals made at this conference to turn challenges into opportunities and adapt to the situation”.

Mr. Phuc underscored the need to devise new policies on regional development, along with identifying the delta’s major challenges posed by both climate change and other factors. He said that in addition to transforming the development model, the delta needs to roll out solutions and priority programmes and projects.
