(VOVWORLD) -On the sidelines of the fourth Mekong River Commission Summit in Vientiane, Laos, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh had a bilateral meeting with Lao Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone on Wednesday.

At the meeting, the two Prime Ministers agreed to make efforts to implement the Vietnam-Laos Strategic Cooperation Agreement from 2021 to 2030, coordinate to ensure security, social order and safety, and strengthen cooperation in security and defense.
The two sides also agreed to continue to raise the level of economic cooperation, support each other to recover from the pandemic, and boost the effective connection between the two economies.
Discussing regional and global issues of mutual concern, the two sides agreed to support each other at multilateral forums, work with other ASEAN countries to maintain the unity and centrality of ASEAN, and coordinate to maintain ASEAN's common stance on strategic issues, including the East Sea.
Vietnam expressed its willingness to support Laos to successfully undertake international responsibilities, including the Chair of ASEAN and the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA) in 2024.
