PM meets Lao, Cambodian counterparts ahead of MRC summit
(VOVWORLD) - Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc met his Laotian counterpart Thongloun Sisoulith on Wednesday on the sideline of the Mekong River Commission (MRC) Summit in Cambodia.
Both agreed to accelerate the implementation of agreements signed during visits by leaders and the 40th meeting of the Vietnam-Lao Inter-Governmental Committee. Prime Minister Phuc asked for more promotion of Vietnamese investment and facilitation of Vietnamese workers in Laos and the establishment of Vietnamese community association in some provinces. Both leaders agreed to capitalize on the success of the Vietnam-Laos Friendship Year last year to boost the special solidarity between the two countries.
The same day, during a meeting with his Cambodian counterpart Samdech Techo Hunsen, Prime Minister Phuc expressed his pleasure over the flourishing ties between Vietnam and Cambodia, which he said should be elevated to new heights. Both leaders praised the signing of the Agreement of Double Taxation Avoidance and the minutes of a meeting between chairpersons of the Vietnam-Cambodia Joint Committee on Land Border Demarcation and Marker Planting in Hanoi recently.
