(VOVworld) – Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc said Vietnam always attaches great importance to fostering cooperation with the Asian Development Bank, while receiving ADB Vice President Stephen Groff on the sideline of the Vietnam Summit 2016 in Ho Chi Minh city on Wednesday. The Prime Minister expressed thanks for ADB’s commitment of 1 billion USD as part of its 2016-2020 Country Partnership Strategy with Vietnam, which will help realize key socio-economic goals set for the period. The Prime Minister hailed ADB’s positive comments on Vietnam’s economic prospects, saying the Vietnamese government is working hard to stabilize macroeconomics, improve the business climate, and protect the environment.

Mr. Groff spoke highly of measures taken by Vietnamese government to restructure the economy and promote growth and international integration. He said the Asian Development Bank (ADB) is committed to supporting Vietnam in stabilizing macroeconomics, curbing inflation, sustaining economic growth, and achieving the upper middle income status in the next 20 years.

The same day, the Prime Minister received the Editorial Director of The Economist magazine of the UK, Charles Goddard. The Prime Minister spoke highly of the efforts made by The Economist and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in organizing the Vietnam Summit 2016.  Mr. Phuc said the Vietnamese Government is striving to build a government of integrity that is instrumental to development, and said he hopes the conference will help the global business community better understand development opportunities and prospects in Vietnam as well as the Government’s strategies and policies.
