PM underlines infrastructure connectivity with China

(VOVWORLD) -Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh met in Hanoi on Wednesday with Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Sun Weidong, who is on a visit to Vietnam and attending the 2nd ASEAN Future Forum.

At the meeting, PM Chinh called on the two foreign ministries to further uphold their role as standing bodies of the Vietnam-China Bilateral Cooperation Steering Committee and boost high-level exchanges between the two Parties and governments.

He stressed the need to boost coordination across key areas and accelerate infrastructure connectivity projects, especially the substantial progress on the Lao Cai-Hanoi-Hai Phong standard-gauge railway.

The PM also called for expediting discussions to finalize a protocol on exporting Vietnamese agricultural products to China, forge people-to-people ties, especially among younger generations.

Vice Foreign Minister Sun said the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs is ready to closely coordinate with the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs to implement the common perceptions of senior leaders of the two Parties and two countries, deepen cooperation, and further their Comprehensive Strategic Cooperative Partnership and the Community with a Shared Future that carries strategic significance to bring practical benefits to both countries and peoples.
