Vietnam, China strengthen cooperation in education and training

(VOVWORLD) - Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh received in Hanoi on Sunday Professor Dr. Qiu Yong, an alternate member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, Secretary of the Party Committee of Tsinghua University, and an Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. Professor Qiu is currently on a visit to Vietnam.

During the meeting, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh commended the strong partnership between Tsinghua University and Vietnamese institutions in recent years. He highlighted the recent signing of cooperation agreements between Tsinghua University and three of Vietnam’s top universities—Vietnam National University, Hanoi, Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City, and the National Economics University—as a significant step forward in enhancing academic exchanges and creating opportunities for Vietnamese students, lecturers, and researchers to access advanced knowledge and benefit from Tsinghua University's scientific achievements.

The Prime Minister expressed his hope that Tsinghua University would further expand collaboration with Vietnamese training institutions and research centers and offer more scholarships and research opportunities for Vietnamese students, lecturers, and scientists, enabling them to pursue studies and professional development at Tsinghua University.

Professor Dr. Qiu Yong acknowledged the progress and achievements of Vietnam’s education sector. He reaffirmed Tsinghua University’s commitment to fostering academic cooperation, research collaboration, and student exchange programs with Vietnamese institutions in the future.

The same day the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Education and Training, and Vietnam National University, Hanoi, in coordination with Tsinghua University, organized a ceremony conferring the honorary title of “Honorary Professor” of Tsinghua University upon Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh in recognition of contributions made by the Vietnamese Party, Government, and the Prime Minister himself to Vietnam’s economic development and the strengthening of Vietnam-China relations.

Speaking at the ceremony, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh expressed his deep gratitude for the distinction. He noted that this honor not only reflects Tsinghua University's appreciation but also signifies China’s recognition of Vietnam’s achievements in national development and socialism building and underscores the Vietnamese Government’s efforts in fostering stronger bilateral relations with China.
