Mr. Phuc had a round-table talk with Japan’s leading corporations in the fields of finance, energy, construction, manufacturing, logistics, and high technology in Tokyo on Monday. He briefed participants about several free trade deals Vietnam has engaged in, like the just-signed EU-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA), and said Vietnam will soon sign the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership. Investing in Vietnam will allow Japanese firms to expand their market not only to the ASEAN region but also to the EU, he said.
Japanese investors Toyota, Canon, TEPCON, Yusen Logistics, Sojitz, and JXTG praised the Vietnamese Government’s efforts to remove bottlenecks for enterprises and suggested that more attention be paid to training design and maintenance engineers for FDI companies. The Japanese proposed the Vietnamese Government develop infrastructure, particularly a comprehensive transport system well connected to Vietnam’s big port cities.
