(VOVworld)- Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong has signed a decision to issue a new resolution on orientations and tasks for Ho Chi Minh City ’s development by 2020.

Under the resolution, Ho Chi Minh City aims to become not only a hub of economics, culture, education, science, technology, international exchanges and integration but also a driving force for national development. According to the Politburo, after more than 25 years of renewal, Ho Chi Minh City has recorded great and comprehensive achievements, creating basic changes in social life and contributing to the common achievements of the region and the country. However, low growth quality and competitiveness, overloaded infrastructure and problems in urban planning and management are hindering the city’s sustainable development. By 2020, the city aims to maintain social and political stability, restructure the economy and expand growth.
