A photo taken by a witness showed a 30x30 centimeter plastic fragment with a rounded edge. No clue has proved a link between the object and the missing flight. Local authorities are conducting a close surveillance of the coast of Reunion Island with the hope of finding more debris that could belong to the missing airplane.
The Boeing 777 carrying 239 passengers vanished on August 3 last year while en route from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing.

According to Malaysian officials, the satellite communications network showed that the flight deviated from its planned flight path and flew south into the southern Indian Ocean. Australia led the largest and most costly search campaign in history in Indian Ocean, but no clues prior to this debris have been found.
