President holds phone talks with US counterpart
(VOVWORLD) - Vietnam treasures its ties with the US and will actively work with Washington for more efficient and practical bilateral cooperation, said President Tran Dai Quang on the phone with US President Donald Trump on Wednesday.
President Quang asserted that the US President’s State visit to Vietnam and his attendance at the 25th APEC Economic Leaders’ Meeting marked a significant milestone, creating a strong driving force for the effective and stable development of the Vietnam-US Comprehensive Partnership.

The two leaders exchanged views on concrete measures to strengthen the Vietnam-US relationship, focusing on implementing the agreements reached by the two countries’ high-ranking leaders. They agreed to continue prioritizing the promotion of economic and trade relations, considering them a focus of and driving force for bilateral ties. The two leaders also pledged to boost cooperation in addressing war legacy, including the implementation of a dioxin remediation project in Bien Hoa airport. They reaffirmed their positions on the East Sea issue and agreed to maintain high-level exchanges, contacts and meetings to promote bilateral relations for the benefits of the two countries’ people, contributing to peace, stability, cooperation and development in the region and the world.
President Donald Trump extended his greetings to the Vietnamese leaders and people on the occasion of the traditional Lunar New Year. He expressed his impressions on the achievements the Vietnamese people have made over the past year. He affirmed that the US attaches great importance to its relations with Vietnam and the country’s active role in the region and will continue cooperating with Vietnam in promoting the bilateral Comprehensive Partnership in the coming time.
