(VOVWORLD) - President Nguyen Xuan Phuc, his wife Tran Nguyet Thu and a high-ranking delegation of the Party and State of Vietnam left Hanoi on Monday for an official friendship visit to Laos.

The visit is being made at the invitation of Thongloun Sisoulith, General Secretary of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party and President of Laos.
The visit, the first foreign trip by President Nguyen Xuan Phuc, makes an important contribution to preserving the fine traditions and vibrancy of the special Vietnam-Laos bonding, opening a new period in the relationship between the two Parties, States and peoples.
