(VOVworld) – Russian President Vladimir Putin told the press on October 17 that the new Donbass law adopted by Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko is a step in the right direction.

He said he hoped it will be used in complete resolution of security problems. Putin said Russia will help resolve pending issues which have obstructed the establishment of boundaries in Ukraine, paving the way for a ceasefire.
He also said Russia will help Ukraine resolve its fuel debts and expected the EU to do so. Russia and Ukraine have agreed on conditions to resume fuel supply to Ukraine, at least in the winter.
Putin said the west’s sanctions have not been decisive reasons affecting the Russian economy. He attributed the main cause to the global economic recession
