(VOVworld) - President Truong Tan Sang has called for more efforts to expand sea channel to cater for larger sized vessels in Quang Ninh province. During his meeting with Cai Lan International Port authorities, the President said joint venture capital should be increased while upgrading local infrastructure to improve loading  capacity.


In his meeting with Ha Long shipbuilding company staff, the President said the shipbuilder must restructure its debts and ease its reliance on state commercial orders by expanding market and cooperation with world partners to improve branding and learn from their management and technical skills. The President also visited Quang Ninh provincial public administrative center on Sunday.


During his visit to Co To island on Saturday, President Truong Tan Sang hailed the importance of maritime economy and unity between people and army in economic development : “We are performing the strategic task of development and protection of Vietnam socialist country. Islands are very important as they serve as the front gate of the nation. Co To has ensured stability in the Bac Bo Gulf and should promote its role to safeguard peace, stability and cooperation. Co To must be a bastion to defend the country and national sovereignty and territorial integrity.”
