Addressing the opening ceremony, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc applauded efforts by the factory’s leaders, engineers, and workers, saying the record construction speed shows great aspiration and passion of those who “have joined hands and contributed wisdom to create a miracle in the auto industry of Vietnam and the world.” Mr. Phuc said the result has not only proved that the Vietnamese people can do what the world can but also contributed to national socio-economic achievements to realise the goal of a wealthy country by 2045. He added: “There were skeptics about the real intention of Vinfast and worries about risks and challenges the company would face when it embarked on a 100-year-old industry, which has little chance to survive and Vietnam worked hard to build but was not fruitful. The inauguration of Vinfast factory has dispelled any doubt.”

The Prime Minister asked VinFast to actively cooperate with other Vietnamese carmakers to together gain a firm foothold in the domestic market and soon enter regional and global markets.

This factory is the most important part of the VinFast automobile and e-scooter production complex, whose construction began in September, 2017. Covering more than half a million sq.m, the plant is designed to manufacture 250,000 cars each year in the first phase, which will be raised to half a million in the second phase.
