(VOVworld) - Vietnam pledges its active contribution to the UN’s peace keeping and development promotion. Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung told UN Under-Secretary-General for Field Support Ameerah Haq in Hanoi on Tuesday that following Vietnam’s deployment of two officials to join UN peace keeping force in Southern Sudan, Vietnam will get prepared for sending military medical staff, engineering and IT units to join UN peace keeping forces. He briefed the UN under secretary general on the tension in the East Sea and asked her to report to the UN Secretary General about the serious situation so that the UN may have its voice and acts to ensure regional peace and stability. Ameerah Haq said Vietnam has set an example to the world in social economic development and wished that Vietnam will be an exemplary nation in securing peace, stability and development. She recalled the UN General Secretary’s statement right after the Chinese oil rig deployment, urging for a respect of peace and international law in resolving the issue. She pledged to convey the message to the UN Chief for practical voices and acts to ensure peace and stability.
