Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc meets Chinese Party General Secretary and President Xi Jinping

(VOVworld) – Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc met the General Secretary of the Communist Party of China and President of China Xi Jinping at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing on Tuesday afternoon.

Mr.Phuc said Vietnam treasures the strengthened political trust, constant consolidation and promotion of the traditional friendship between two countries. He said he hopes that Vietnam and China will make further efforts to boost practical cooperation, control disputes at sea, abide by agreements and common perceptions reached by the two countries’ leaders,  comprehensively and effectively implement the Declaration on the Conduct of Parties in the East Sea (DOC) and finalise a Code of Conduct in the East Sea (COC).

Prime Minister Phuc said Vietnam welcomes Chinese businesses to invest Vietnam and asked agencies from both sides to work to remove obstacles for sustainable development of bilateral economic and trade ties.

Mr. Xi said that China treasures win-win cooperation with Vietnam and suggested both sides to uphold the role of China-Vietnam Steering Committee on Cooperation, and combine the development strategies of the “One Belt, One Road” and “Two corridors, One Economic Belt” initiatives. The Chinese leader also called for the early establishment of border economic cooperative zones. He promised to encourage competent Chinese companies to invest in Vietnam and to work closely with Vietnam to address problems in trade cooperation between the two countries.
