(VOVworld) – Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc chaired a working session with leaders of Da Nang in Hanoi on Wednesday. He said Da Nang needs to combine production with tourism and develop as Singapore did.

At a working session with Quang Nam province on that day, Mr. Phuc said Quang Nam has great potential for development thanks to its seaports, airport, and cultural heritage sites and has done well in tourism, engineering, and infrastructure. Mr. Phuc also praised the province for improving local people’s livelihoods, speeding up administrative reforms, and building a new style of rural areas. Quang Nam’s investment promotion has yielded results with Chu Lai economic zone generating 250,000 jobs. The Prime Minister called for future ambitions: “Building Quang Nam into a fast, sustainable, comprehensive development model and a center for the central region together with Da Nang and Quang Ngai. Quang Nam has more economic space for development than Da Nang. Its total budget collection is higher and land area 12 times greater than Da Nang.”

Prime Minister Phuc also asked Quang Nam to build a facilitating administration, restructure its economy, and improve the agricultural sector, focusing on maritime economy and offshore fishing.
