(VOVworld) – The ruling United Russia party won 51 percent of the vote following an initial counting by the Russian Central Election Commission.

 The Liberal Democratic Party came second with a score of 15,1 percent before the Communist party  with 14,9 percent, and the Russian Socialist Revolutionary Party (SR) with 6.4 percent. The Commission said the election was the largest-scale election in Russia’s history with the participation of more than 110 million voters nationwide.
