Russia to press on with Nord Stream 2 gas line to Europe
(VOVWORLD) - Russia must keep scheduling on implementing the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline link to Europe, a senior Russian senator told state news agency RIA on Saturday after pipe-laying was suspended due to US sanctions.

Konstantin Kosachev, chairman of the foreign affairs committee in Russia's upper house, was speaking after Swiss-Dutch firm Allseas said it had suspended work on pipe-laying to avoid US sanctions contained in legislation signed by President Donald Trump on Friday.
Russia's Foreign Ministry on Saturday said that Russia will press ahead with the project. The EU and Germany on the same day also condemned the US’s extra-territorial sanctions. The 11 billion USD new gas link between Russia and Germany is set to double Russian gas shipments to the EU’s largest economy.
