(VOVWORLD) - Ukraine and Russia on Wednesday announced the largest exchange of prisoners since the start of the conflict, involving the return of more than 200 soldiers from each side in a deal mediated by the United Arab Emirates.

230 Ukrainian soldiers and 248 Russian soldiers were released and repatriated in the first exchange, after nearly 5 months.
Ukraine’s human rights ombudsman Dmytro Lubinets said 2,576 Ukrainians have been freed in prisoner swaps since the start of the conflict.
