Russian public comments on President Putin’s visit to Vietnam
(VOVworld)- Russian President Vladimir Putin will visit Vietnam on Tuesday at the invitation of President Truong Tan Sang. The visit attracts great attention from the Russian public. Alexander Voronsov of the Far-Eastern Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences told Ria Novosti:“President Putin’s visit to Vietnam has been thoroughly prepared. During the visit, the two sides are expected to sign 16 major economic contracts including one on Vietnam’s oil refinery. This is a strategic decision. In addition, the two sides developed a serious relation in military. Vietnam is one of the first Southeast Asian countries to build a nuclear power plant with Russian assistance. This is a serious and expected visit”.
Doctor Grigori Lokshin works for ASEAN Research Center of the Far-Eastern Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences: “The relationship between Russia and Vietnam is at the comprehensive strategic partnership, the highest level of relationship between countries. The concept of strategic partnership is a new concept in external relations. A strategic partnership is not a military alliance but it is a relationship for peace and development. The strategic partnership between Vietnam and Russia develops on the basis of long-term relations and mutual trust. As researchers on Vietnam, we are exerting efforts to help others understand about Vietnam and contribute to boosting bilateral ties in all fields including military technology, energy, science, education and culture. So, I believe that the visit would open new prospects for our bilateral ties”.
