Seoul calls on Pyongyang to resume family reunions
(VOVworld) – The Republic of Korea’s President Park Geun-hye has called on the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea to resume the reunion of families separated since the Korean war (1950-1953).

She proposed on Monday that the reunion program be held on the Lunar New Year’s Day late this month, and pledged to open a new chapter in reunifying the Korean peninsula. Mrs. Park appealed to the international community to cooperate in resolving the Korean peninsula division, an issue which can not be unilaterally done by South Korea. The two Koreas have organized 18 family reunions for 20,000 people who have not seen their relatives since the Korean war.
