Several countries refuse to sign final joint statement of Ukraine Peace Summit
(VOVWORLD) - Switzerland, the host country of the Ukraine Peace Summit which concluded on Sunday, reported that 90 countries participated but Saudi Arabia, India, South Africa, Thailand, Indonesia, Mexico, and the UAE did not sign the final joint statement.
Saudi Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud said that any credible peace talks for the conflict in Ukraine would need Russia’s participation, making any statement at a summit without Russia meaningless.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said that the participants have agreed to continue working on organizing another summit.
Russian news agencies quoted Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov as saying that Russian President Vladimir Putin does not rule out the possibility of negotiating with Ukraine but requires assurances concerning any such negotiations.
