(VOVworld) – Slovakian Prime Minister Robert Fico said on Wednesday that Slovakia has filed a lawsuit in the European Court of Justice, the highest court in Luxembourg, against a European Union decision to redistribute 120,000 asylum seekers among member countries.

He said the suit challenges "so-called mandatory quotas" on refugee re-location which EU interior ministers adopted in September amid fierce opposition from central and eastern Europe.
In September, the EC announced a plan to reallocate refugees to reduce the burden on Greece, Italy, and Germany, over the objections of several Central and Eastern European countries including Slovakia, the Czech Republic, Romania, and Hungary.
