(VOVWORLD) - A text message drive has kicked off to provide humanitarian aid for poor people and victims of Agent Orange/Dioxin.

Each person texting TET to 1409 donates 0.9 USD. The campaign was launched at a program hosted by the Vietnam Red Cross Society (VNRC) on Saturday in Ho Chi Minh city.
Addressing the event, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc underlined the need to expand kindness among the population.
"Boosting economic development should always be associated with reducing poverty, ensuring social security, and supporting vulnerable groups. The State will continue to implement policies on sustainable poverty reduction to build a humane, equal, prosperous, and unified society as Vietnam is committed to the United Nation's 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development," Mr. Phuc said.
The SMS campaign will run until February 7.
