Giving a speech marking "Freedom Day", President Ramaphosa listed improvements led by the ANC in pursuing land reform, distributing millions of hectares of land to those who had been forcibly dispossessed, building houses, clinics, hospitals, roads and constructing bridges, dams, and many other facilities.
In South Africa, Freedom Day is celebrated on April 27, commemorating the first post-apartheid elections held in 1994. On this day 30 years ago, millions of South Africans of any racial group were allowed to vote, and decided their own futures for the first time. Nelson Mandela was elected the first President of South Africa after this election.
