(VOVWORLD) - Acting President of the South Korean Red Cross Kim Sun-hyang on Monday proposed that North Korea agree to an Inter-Korean Red Cross meeting on October 4, on the occasion of the Mid-Autumn Festival and 10 years since the signing of the Inter-Korean joint communiqué to discuss a program on family reunions.

The proposal followed the “North Korean Peninsula Peace Initiative”, known as the “Berlin Initiative”, which was announced by South Korean President Moon Jae-in on July 6 in Berlin.
On Monday, Cho Myung-kyun, the South Korean minister in charge of unification, urged North Korea to respond to Seoul’s proposal. Minister Cho asked North Korea to resume military contact in the West Sea via the Panmunjom communication channel.
