(VOVworld) – The Spanish Civil Guard and the Italian Coast Guard rescued 523 undocumented migrants – 376 men, 125 women, and 22 children – 25 nautical miles from the Libyan capital of Tripoli, the Civil Guard said Sunday. The migrants were on their way to Italy.

More than 150,000 migrants have left Libya to seek asylum in Italy.Egyptian health and security officials said eleven asylum seekers from Syria and Africa drowned when their lives as their boat capsized off the Egyptian port of Baltim. The Egyptian coastguard apprehended 15 survivors, who were identified as Syrians, Egyptian, and people of other African nationalities.
In September, the International Migration Organisation said nearly 3,100 people have died since January while attempting to reach Europe across the Mediterranean. It said nearly 474,000 people have braved the Mediterranean route to reach Europe since the start of the year.
