Spain to take control of Catalonia if independence declared
(VOVWORLD) - Spanish Interior Minister Juan Ignacio Zoido said on Saturday that the government will take control of Catalonia if regional leader Carles Puigdemont replies ambiguously to Madrid’s question about whether he has declared independence from Spain.

He said the answer must be without any ambiguity, only ‘yes’ or ‘no’. Zoido said if Puigdemont answers ambiguously, it means he doesn’t want dialogue and thus the Spanish government will have to take action.
Spanish Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy turned down calls for mediation to find a way out of crisis in Catalonia. He warned that its breakaway will not be recognized by the EU, leaving high stakes for Catalonia.
