Spring festivals open across Vietnam
(VOVWORLD) - Various spring festivals are taking place across Vietnam. The Bai Dinh Pagoda Festival opened in Gia Vien district in the northern mountainous province of Ninh Binh on Thursday, on the sixth day of the Lunar New Year.

Deputy Prime Minister Truong Hoa Binh beat the drum to kick-start the festival to pray for peace, prosperity, favourable weather and good crops. This has been the sixth holding of the annual festival since the Trang An Landscape Complex in the locality was recognised as the World Cultural and Natural Heritage Site by UNESCO.
One of the biggest festivals in the northern province of Thai Nguyen, Duom Temple Festival also kicked off in Duom Village in Phu Luong District on Thursday. The festival aims to honour national hero Duong Tu Minh, who ousted invaders and defended the frontiers of the motherland in northern Vietnam under the Ly dynasty (1009-1225), while praying for a prosperous year with bumper crops.
