State President on a working visit to Ninh Thuan
(VOVWorld) - President Truong Tan Sang visited Phuong Tien commune, the poorest commune in Bac Ai suburban district, at the start of his working visit to the central Ninh Thuan province on Saturday. Sang heard reports and examined local efforts to escape poverty. The mountainous commune of Phuoc Tien is a heroic commune of Bac Ai suburban district during the war time. However, nearly 4 decades after the war ended, the commune remains poor with more than half of households maintaining backward production. The average income per capita stands at below 250 USD per year. The President urged the locals to restructure their production and make use of the successful experiences to improve their living conditions. “No other ways but only learning from practical experiences and replicate the best models will help improve the productivity. The success story need to be communicated to involve role models in helping others escape poverty,” says the President.
President Sang also asked the localities in the district to work out an appropriate human resource scheme for better performance. He noted that agricultural production is the top priority in the next 5 – 10 years. Focus should be given to zoning plantation for industrial production and then develop processing industry to create outlets for agricultural production.
The same day, President Sang toured the rubber plantation areas and visited family of war martyr Pinang Tac, a hero of the Raglai ethnic people during the resistance war against American invaders.
