(VOVworld) - The international community needs to take a stronger action to help the Damascus administration to stop financial support for terrorist forces. Syria's foreign minister Walid al-Moallem made the statement at the U.N. General Assembly in New York on Monday. He said that terrorists from 83 countries are operating in the Syrian civil war and many of them are members of al-Qaida, the most dangerous terrorist organization in the world and its offshoots.

al-Moallem urged the international community to increase cooperation and coordination of actions in an effort to block financial sources, and impose serious punishments on those who support terrorist training, and the supply of weapons and shelter for terrorist elements.

The Syrian regime also pledged that it would fully implement the member responsibility of the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons. Walid al-Moallem, who is also Syrian Deputy Prime Minister expressed his hope for a Geneva peace conference without prerequisite conditions so that Syria can decide on its future for itself.
