(VOVworld)- Thai General Prayuth, Leader of Thailand’s National Council for Peace and Order received a royally-endorsed list of 200 new members of Thailand's National Legislative Assembly (NLA) on Thursday. Approved by a Thai royal ordinance, the NLA will assume the responsibilities of an interim House of Representatives and Senate in the current Thai political situation. More than half of the new members are active or retired army generals. The rest are policemen, scholars, director of major universities, politicians, and leaders of NGOs and private businesses. The NLA will convene its first meeting next Thursday. According to Thailand’s interim Constitution, approved on July 22, the NLA will enact broad reforms to end the prolonged instability in Thailand before holding a general election next year.
