Protestors are strengthening efforts to oust the acting government of Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra and hinder the election scheduled to take place on February 2. Speaking in front of his supporters on Sunday, leader of the opposition forces Suthep Thaugsuban denied all possibilities of a negotiation with the government. Meanwhile, the Thai government mobilized some 20,000 policemen and soldiers to maintain security. Prime Minister Shinawatra has asked the army to stand between the government and the protestors, and has vowed to continue acting as Prime Minister until the upcoming election on February 2.
