(VOVWORLD) - National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue has urged the press to continue moving forwards and serve as a bridge between the Party, the State and the people.

Mr. Hue was speaking at a meeting in Hanoi on Friday with leaders of the Party Central Committee’s Commission for Information and Education, the Ministry of Information and Communications, the Vietnam Journalists' Association, and press agencies, on the occasion of the 98th anniversary of the Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day (June 21).
He said the press should play an important role in the building of the law-governed socialist state of Vietnam.
The immediate and long-term urgent task is to accelerate digital transformation in the media sector, Chairman Hue noted.
The press is a sharp weapon, an effective tool of the Party, the voice of the people, and the forum of the people on the ideological, political, and cultural fronts, he said.
“Journalists have created outstanding works to encourage and protect the good and fight evils. We should spread good practices and lessons and honor role models,” Mr. Hue added.
